Player Questions & Developer Answers

Friday means Grab Bag time!

I recently came back to the game and I am happy to be back. I downloaded all the clients current to Labyrinth. Do I need all of them? I usually always play on the Labyrinth client. I have deleted SI and TOA with no ill effects. Can I do the same with Catacombs and Darkness Rising? It sure would speed up my scans and clean ups and defrags on my computer. Future patches and upgrades won't do checks any further back than having the Labyrinth client?

Welcome back says The Bearded Wonder who also has the answer you wanted to hear: For the installs, you only need the one you are using. So keep the Labyrinth client and clear out the others to enjoy that extra space.

What is the damage value on the Master Level 9 Stormlord ability 'Energy Tempest?'

Knowing the value of many things, the Balancinator replies: Energy Tempest does 15% of the target's health per pulse. It is affected by the target's resists as well.

I have a question about 1.94 and Rest XP. Is Rest XP going to affect Artifact XP as well?

Putting his feet up on his desk for a bit of a rest, The Bearded Wonder says no: Rest XP will not affect artifact XP.

My question is in reference to the Juggernaut Realm Ability. The delve states, "Adds to the target's effective level for the purposes of melee and magical damage calculation. Note that this will not affect the target's visual con. A target cannot be boosted over level 70."

Level 1: Levels added: 10
Level 2: Levels added: 20
Level 3: Levels added: 30

Is the level 70 cap based on the boost from my level "50" or is it based off the "32" level Jade Simulacrum spell making my Simulacrum a level 62 for 1 minute duration? I'm not sure if my pet is classified as a level 50 since my character is Level 50. Thanks in advance.

The Balancinator did some research of the Juggernaut ability: The pet scales up to 88% of the caster's level. Therefore, at level 50, your Jade Simulacrum pet will be Level 44. The Realm Ability "Juggernaut" will add levels for damage purposes to the level of your pet. If you have a Level 44 pet, then the rank two of "Juggernaut" will make it a Level 64 pet.

I've recently returned to DAoC after long hiatus. A group of my family and friends have started playing again together and we've distributed the Tradeskill responsibilities among the group. My responsibility is Spellcrafting, so I diligently started using tasks in order to help finance the early levels. However almost every task I am given by the Spellcraft Master in Aegirheim is to make a Lambent Dreaded Seal. When I last played the game lambent dreaded seals apparently didn't exist. My problem is I cannot find out how to obtain the materials for transmuting the seals. I know I am missing some essential piece of the puzzle but when I do a knowledge base search all I can find are patch notes that indicate the seals were added to the game but no info on how to make them or obtain the materials. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated for am getting a bit frustrated.

Having great knowledge of the Lambent Dreaded Seals The Bearded Wonder looked into this for you: The NPCs should not be offering those items for consignment on any server, much less ones where you don't even have seals. This should now be fixed, thanks for the report!

I was wondering if using the 50 Focus Bonus to all spell lines as a 50 Mentalist would allow me to charm pets without having 32 in Light spec? With my Animist I can cast pets and they will be level 44 even though I'm not spec'd in that spell line. So is this intended or a bug?

After a moment of pondering the Balancinator shook his head and said: No, focus affects the power consumption of your spells. It will not increase your chances to charm a higher-level pet. The animist pet spell that you are casting is probably a baseline spell. These spells are considered summoning spells and will scale up to 88% of the caster's level. Please remember not all summoning spells will do that. The lower level summoning spells have a low max level limit and may not achieve the 88% level value of the caster.

Is there any work currently to make a version of the game that will work on Mac?

For some reason The Bearded Wonder envisioned Mac and PC guys in his head after hearing this question: There are no immediate plans for a Mac specific version. You should be able to run Dark Age of Camelot using Bootcamp and Windows on the Mac.

So I'm am trying to clear up a rumor I have heard. Is it true that if a Nightshade has his damage shield up (or any damage shield for that reason) that the Maddening Scalars absorb buff will not proc?

Within moments of being asked this, the Balancinator had the answer: I tested this using multiple damage shields. The Maddening Scalars buff will fire while a damage shield is up.
