    Friday Grab Bag – 12/13/2019

    Created by

    |

Welcome to our end of year Grab Bag! Many questions answered below, including a quick word on what’s to come for Dark Age of Camelot in 2020! (ohhh, aahhh)

Don’t forget! Our Midwinter event starts Tuesday, December 17th and our 12 days of Midwinter gifts returns on Saturday, December 21st! Make sure your bags are cleared out 🙂 Hope everyone enjoys the holiday period and we’ll be back with the Grab Bag in the New Year!

Thank you all for sending in your questions, and remember to please keep sending them in for our devs! You can submit any game related questions you have for our DAoC Devs through our Grab Bag submission formPlease note this is for game mechanic questions. Feedback/ideas/suggestions should be sent in through our feedback form.

Continue reading for all the news!

For returning players, is there an easy way to find out what archive server or Ywain server you have characters on? Besides having to log in, get to a server, check each realm, quit and logging in again and repeating the process for each server.

Currently the only way to see a list of all of your account’s characters and their server is to send an email to support@darkageofcamelot.com. They’ll get back to you as soon as possible with that list (please be sure to include the account name in your email and to email them from your account’s email address).

However, as soon as next week there will be a new “View Characters” feature on the Account Center that will list out all characters on an account by server!

If I decide to upgrade my Free to Play Account to a subscription account for a month, will the account once again return to a free to play account once the subscription runs out?

Not immediately. There is a 180-day limit before any recently subscribed account will be eligible for Endless Conquest, as described in our FAQ and Features Table.

Question on the animist. When I cast multiple Briar Detonation or Briar Storm (Pet PBAE), the Harbinger War pet seems to have it’s own casting speed that does not match my own. It also appears that it does not cast all the spells I do(since I cast a lot more faster). How is the animist and the pet suppose to work for this circumstance?

These spells do call the pet to cast them but in this case the subsequent pet-casted spells are instant-cast. However, if the pet is currently in melee combat, it cannot immediately cast any spells (this is how all monsters/pets work) and instead queues up its next spell based on its swing time. All of the queued up spells will fire upon the end of the swing timer but this can result in some of the Animist-casted PBAoEs being delayed if the Animist casts multiple spells during the pet’s swing timer. When the pet is set to passive or is not in melee combat, all of the PBAOEs will fire immediately after the Animist’s casts with no delay.

Is it true that for temping maximum life 600, we need be 400bonus cap hits and 600normal hits to reach that 600 in template? Or temp 600? How do you get to 600?

At base, a character gets a cap of 200 hits and would need to include +400 hits cap in their gear to be able to reach the 600 hits cap. Then they’d also need to have 600 hits from their gear.

Has Jari the pig trophy mob been removed from the game?  I have been looking for him 2 to 3 times per day for over six months.  I have tried looking during the day and at night; I have tried not killing any pigs and I have tried killing all the pigs; I have tried just killing Wilbur.
None of these strategies has worked so far.  Thank you.

Jari has not been removed. Killing the boar piglets and wild sows and waiting for Jari to spawn is your best bet!

On the Item Search I found this Mauler staff but the only info on where to get it ingame is “Mauler Test Store” – what is this and where to get the staff? https://tools.camelotherald.com/item/view/59131

A sharp eye! This looks like a test object that was missed from our filter. It does not drop anywhere in-game. We’ll filter this one out in the next update, thanks!

We used to get dragon scales for killing Nosdoden and the other 2 SI dragons in the dungeons, obviously dragon scales were removed in place of bp’s but the SI dragons don’t drop bp’s – is this intended??

Yes, this is intended. There are numerous other areas to get Bounty Points now (RvR, Darkness Falls, Curse Campaign, and TOA Bounty quests) and Nosdoden drops other rewards too!

If I as a fire wizard hit a leather user with a fire DD will I hit harder than a Eld not using fire damage if the DD value was the same?
(question in regards to resist table)

No, armor resist tables only work against melee attacks.

The turkey legs have been a very nice addition to the game.
It’s sparked a lot of small man action for my friends and me, while almost giving people an RVR-focused way to slowly collect bounty points through a little leg work. Has there been any consideration to keeping the quest, or adding a quest like it, in the game?

The Supplies for the Cause quest is a permanent style quest that offers the exact same reward as Turkey Legs and involves a similar goal of collecting supplies or rubble from the maze and ruined areas in the Frontier. Additionally, we’ll have other event quests that are identical to the Turkey Leg collection quest, including one coming next week with the Midwinter event!

I need Flames of Prometheus and the only way to get them is through Atlantean Glass and the only way to get that is by exchanging Diamond Seals in DF for them. I don’t have Diamond Seals anymore and I don’t have enough glass to get the Flames of Prometheus – how do I acquire this item?

Altantean Glass, Dragon Scales, Aurulite, and Blood Seals are still plentiful on the Market Explorer in housing. And if one of those currencies becomes unavailable there, there is still the possibility to convert it from the other currencies at the Alternate Currency Converter NPC in each realm’s capital city. As time goes on and those alternate currencies do dwindle out we’ll be adding in alternate ways to purchase these Flames, and other items like it, but we’re a long way away from those currencies running out at this point.

Any status on when we can expect the new website? I think it would go a long way helping new and returning players to have updated utilities such as a character planner and template builder. The current database has been a great addition.

We agree and work continues on the new website! We’ll be focusing on those tools first and then launch the new website when most are completed. The next web-tool coming is the template builder; followed by the character planner, leaderboards, Realm War status, and housing directory!

Any updates on plans for next year?

In the first quarter next year we’ll be continuing our response to Endless Conquest feedback as well as delivering numerous bug fixes and some other goodies in the form of a 1.127 update.

Afterward, our alternate server proposal will then be our major developmental focus. Our original proposal of a subscription-only ‘Classic + Shrouded Isles + Housing’ server that advances (vote-based) through DAoC’s subsequent content is still the plan. We’ll be sharing the details of that server’s ruleset, like which Frontier it will use and what other changes will be involved with it, as we get through 1.127! Depending on how this alternate server goes, we will be launching subsequent versions (perhaps with some fun variations) with a more forced progression.

With that said, Ywain will continue to be the primary long-term focus as we view it as THE game. With Endless Conquest and the ability to play for free we’ve seen a great number of returning and new players out exploring our beloved world and more importantly, endlessly battling each other in the Frontier and battlegrounds!

While alternate servers may seem like a shift away from Ywain in the short term, in the long term they will be another boon to the game as a whole and to Ywain. New and returning players alike will have a chance to start fresh on the new servers, learn or re-learn the game, gain realm rank and eventually transfer over to Ywain with their established characters, which will continue to grow Ywain’s population over time. In addition to the momentum from Endless Conquest and this future momentum from these alternate servers, we are also in the midst of an investigation into bringing DAoC onto Steam! 2020 is going to be a great year for Dark Age of Camelot and with these plans coming to fruition, there will be many more ahead!

An exciting year ahead, for sure 🙂

Don’t miss our Saturday night giveaway stream on our official Twitch channel this Saturday (December 14th) as I’ll be giving away a ton more Mithril than usual AND have a Max Character Boost also to give away (level 50, ml10, cl15 token) !! Stream starts at 10:30PM GMT / 5:30PM EST.

We wish everyone a happy holidays and a safe and happy New Year!

    Here’s to 2020!

    Friday Grab Bag – 11/15/2019

Welcome to the Grab Bag! This week’s Grab Bag also contains a few Hot Fix changes to ML and Bountycrafting cost changes now live 🙂

Thanks to everyone for sending in your feedback!

As always, thanks also for sending in your questions, and remember to please keep sending them in for our devs! You can submit any game related questions you have for our DAoC Devs through our Grab Bag submission formPlease note this is for game mechanic questions. Feedback/ideas/suggestions should be sent in through our feedback form.

Read on for the questions 🙂

Hi, with the launch of Endless Conquest it seems that population has gone up in-game a bit but I think it could go up even more with the lessening of some more restrictions and some changes to bounty point costs and gain. If players could get into RvR faster I think they’d be more willing to come back. Any chance we will see a lessening of the costs and maybe restrictions?

We’re monitoring feedback constantly and have been making several adjustments already to levelling rates as well as some other fixes. With this Grab Bag we’re also happy to announce the following Live Hot Fix notes.  As time goes on and we receive more feedback we’ll continue to make adjustments as needed!

    Live Hot Fix Notes

    • The bounty point costs for Master Level tokens on Demyphon have been reduced as follows:

      • Master Level 1 Encounter Credit – 25,000 to 8000 BPs
      • Master Level 2 Encounter Credit – 25,000 to 8000 BPs
      • Master Level 3 Encounter Credit – 55,000 to 18000 BPs
      • Master Level 4 Encounter Credit – 45,000 to 15,000 BPs
      • Master Level 5 Encounter Credit – 30,000 to 10,000 BPs
      • Master Level 6 Encounter Credit – 50,000 to 17,000 BPs
      • Master Level 7 Encounter Credit – 35,000 to 12,000 BPs
      • Master Level 8 Encounter Credit – 50,000 to 17,000 BPs
      • Master Level 9 Encounter Credit – 60,000 to 20,000 BPs
      • Master Level 10 Encounter Credit – 75,000 to 25,000 BPs
      • Complete Master Level 1-10 Credit – 450,000 to 150,000 BPs
    • Bountycraft Recipe costs have been reduced as follows:

      • Recipe: Pictslayer – 250,000 to 50,000 BPs
      • Recipe: Darkness Falls – 250,000 to 75,000 BPs
      • Recipe: Seasonal – 350,000 to 100,000 BPs
      • Recipe: Aurulite – 350,000 to 100,000 BPs
      • Recipe: Otherworldly – 350,000 to 125,000 BPs
      • Recipe: Frozen – 400,000 to 150,000 BPs
      • Recipe: Curse – 400,000 to 175,000 BPs
    • Bountycraft Mold costs have been reduced as follows:

      • Bounty Accessory Mold – 10,000 to 5,000 BPs
      • Bounty Armor Mold – 12,500 to 6,250 BPs
      • Bounty Weapon Mold – 15,000 to 7,500 BPs
    • Bounty Point rewards on the RvR Daily quests have been increased from 15,000 to 25,000 bounty points and are still modified by zone bonuses.

The 1.126 live patch notes have also been updated with these changes for reference.

With the new Veteran Reward trophies being tradeable, does that mean the old ones we had are also tradeable or can they be made tradable?

Yes, the trophies given out for Veteran rewards are all tradable which retroactively affects any of those trophies that already existed!

I have a question about bard class. What does Charisma do for a bard? How does this stat help a bard? Does it affect spells?

Charisma is the Bard’s casting stat (as well as the Skald and Minstrel). It affects their damage done with their instant DDs as well as their power pool and healing effectiveness.

What type of weapon is Never-ending flame? This elemental vs slash-thrust confuses me. What does elemental mean on weapons?

Never-ending flame deals heat damage. Elemental simply means that the weapon is a non-physical (slash, crush, and thrust) damage type. This means that when you hit someone with the Never-ending flame, it deals heat damage to the target and the target uses their heat resistance to calculate how much damage should be done. This can be beneficial to use in some scenarios (like when the target is debuffed of their heat resistance) and  disadvantageous in others (like when the target has high heat resistance).

Additionally certain armors have bonuses and penalties against certain damage types. Our armor resist table has more information on those.

Does a weapon with a damage proc break a peel? If I use a backpeel, will the dmg proc be applied after the snare effect?

Yes, weapon-based procs always apply after the style’s effect. A damage proc from an item will break a style’s snare.

That’s it for this week’s GB – see you all in the frontiers! 🙂

    1.126B Pendragon Test-Server Patch Notes

    Created by

    |

Patch 1.126B is now on our Pendragon Test server!

Many of these changes are in direct response to the feedback we received on the 1.126 test-server notes. Please hop on and test our latest changes and leave us your detailed feedback

    Important Note:

    • We highly suggest duplicating your game directory and using the duplicate copy as a Pendragon-only game directory *before* patching and testing on Pendragon.

      • This means duplicating the entire “Labyrinth” folder (usually found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Labyrinth) to another location and using that copied folder exclusively for Pendragon testing.
      • If you do not do this, you *will* experience issues when patching from Pendragon back to live.

        • To force the live client to fix these issues, you will need to delete the mft.myp in your game’s directory and then run the camelot.exe patcher again.

For those interested in testing on Pendragon, follow the character copy process here!

Click the image below to check out the patch notes!

    Friday Grab Bag – 11/01/2019 – 1.126 Edition

    Created by

This week’s Grab Bag is focused on answering questions you’ve asked regarding the Patch 1.126 and Endless Conquest notes now up on the Pendragon test server!

October’s newsletter also went out this week, which you can view here in your browser, and includes a poll on housing – so get readin’! Make sure you get the newsletter as soon as it’s out by signing up!

The Endless Conquest FAQ and features table are now available in German (FAQ link / Features Table link) and French (FAQ link / Table Link), with thanks to Shileah and Fugo 🙂

Read on for the many, many, questions and answers 🙂

Is the monthly buggane’s pot tradeable, if not can it be? Some only play a couple of our toons so we would go through the 20 charges really quickly.

It will not be tradable but we can look at increasing the number of charges!

Does the removal of Shadow Seek from assassins mean they will have  the same stealthed walk speed as archers?

Yes they will have the same potential for in-stealth movement speed now with the level of Mastery of Stealth trained determining their in-stealth movement speed.

We are also looking into changing Mastery of Stealth into a realm ability for archers in 1.126 too.

I’m not sure exactly what “Stealth detection mechanics and movement speed will return to pre– 1.121 mechanics.” means but Mastery of Stealth has the same tooltip/description on Live and Test so I assume the description on Test is inaccurate.

“Pre-1.121” mechanics simply mean that the potential for composite-stealth speccing returns and that Mastery of Stealth will once again be what provides the +stealth and +in-stealth movement speed benefits to Assassins rather than Shadow Seek. Shadow Seek behaved slightly different than MoS in that it increased run-speed more and had slightly different stealth detection bonuses. The tooltip is accurate for Mastery of Stealth on both Pendragon and Live servers.

Is it possible to add the Stacking RP bonus potions (MTX) for purchase with bounty points, even if they are very expensive?

We will look into adding this option, yes!

Does that mean that the dragon scale merchants will not sell anything after the patch, or will these merchants sell them for BP instead?

No, Dragon Scale merchants will still sell their wares for dragon scales. ALL accounts with alternate currency stockpiled will still have that currency in their packs and can trade them freely while Veteran (subscribed) account players will still be able to convert or spend the alternate currencies at their stores!

The only change being made to dragon scales is that it will no longer drop or be given out as a reward. Additionally, there are already some dragon items that can be obtained from Doppelganger shards (which are bought with bounty points) and we will eventually add the rest of the dragon items to Bountycraft as well!

So Darkness Falls weapons, armor, and accessories will now will cost bounty points instead blood seals?

No, all Darkness Falls stores will remain as is. The emerald/sapphire/diamond/blood seal stores all still require those currencies to buy their items for sale. ALL accounts with alternate currency stockpiled will still have that currency in their packs and can trade them freely while Veteran (subscribed) account players will still be able to convert or spend the alternate currencies at their stores!

It’s also worth noting that all Darkness Falls’ weapons and armor that can be bought with blood seals are already available in Bountycraft.

The only change being made to these seal-currencies is that they will no longer drop or be given out as a reward. Additionally in 1.126, the [Darkness] quests from Mystemas will grant bounty point awards AND wherever the seals currently drop from monsters in Darkness Falls will now be replaced with bounty point drops instead.

    From the 1.126 notes:

    • All emerald, sapphire, diamond, and blood seals have been replaced with 1 bounty point, 10 bounty point, 100 bounty point, or 2,000 bounty points, respectively.

      • These bounty point amounts are auto-split like an item reward but upon auto-splitting simply award that character with the specified BP amounts (This means these particular BPs will follow all existing autosplit mechanics).

Is the Battlefield potion going to be available to buy with bounty points with aurulite now gone?

First, aurulite is not gone. ALL accounts with alternate currency stockpiled will still have that currency in their packs and can trade them freely while Veteran (subscribed) account players will still be able to convert or spend the alternate currencies at their stores!

The only change being made to aurulite is that it will no longer drop or be given out as a reward. Additionally, all of the Dragon’s Curse chapter and [Elite] quests will grant bounty point rewards instead of aurulite!

Second, we may allow a Battlefield potion to be sold for Bounty points in the future, but to start it will only be available via the existing aurulite store. Don’t forget that Veteran accounts will also receive a free Bound Buggane potion (which grants a bonus to RPs, BPs, and Coin) every month on every level 50 character after 1.126 launches!

Does that mean that Atlantean glass items all have to be bought with bounty points now?

Not entirely. Artifacts and scrolls are no longer sold via glass stores and can now only be purchased with bounty points at their existing stores.

Master level tokens, legendary weapon crafting components, and the Star of Destiny can still be purchased by Veteran (subscribed) accounts at the Atlantean glass merchant with any remaining Atlantean glass currency.

Again, ALL accounts with alternate currency stockpiled will still have that currency in their packs and can trade them freely while Veteran (subscribed) account players will still be able to convert or spend the alternate currencies at their stores.

Do artifact and Master level encounters now drop bounty points since glass no longer drops from them?

    Yes!

    From the 1.126 notes:

    • All artifact and Master Level encounters now grant the equivalent BPs to what their glass drops used to be (100, 200, 500, or 1,000 BPs).

Additionally, the TOA Bounty quests (old Atlantean glass quest chain) now grants bounty points too, totalling 116,500 BPs for fully completing the quest-chain plus the 3 new [Weekly] repeatable quests that grant 15,000 BPs each.

Will we still be able to get the Full Master Level Tokens from Doppelganger shards?

Yes! Veteran (subscribed) accounts will still be able to obtain and turn-in Full Master Level Credit Tokens from Doppelganger shards AND can still receive them as rewards from the Silver-bound, Gold-bound, and Platinum-bound chests.

Why is there such a large increase to the cost for ML1-10?

Bounty point gain was dramatically increased in 1.126 coupled with the fact that the existing costs for Master Levels were already too inexpensive and easy to obtain for such important character progression. With the new bounty point gain increases, the new 450,000 bounty point price tag for ML10 is almost able to be obtained on a new character after they complete the TOA-Bounty quest chain, A Dragon’s Curse campaign, and the [Darkness] quests in Darkness Falls (not to mention the normal monster kills there); all things they are likely to be doing any way as they reach or hit level 50! The experience rewards from those quests (and the Otherworlds campaign) will also have them well on their way to reaching Champion Level 15!

With the new King’s armor set updates, new characters are able to enter RvR immediately after that (or before if they so choose) and can also work on earning additional bounty points through RvR and its own bounty point quests like Supplies for the Cause to improve their gear through Bountycraft and finish obtaining any Champion Levels.

Additionally, we are looking into lowering the *atlantean glass-based* Master Level token costs from their current proposed levels to make their prices more affordable for Veteran (subscribed) accounts.

Is house repossession being re-enabled with 1.126 as mentioned in a previous Grab Bag?

House repossession processes will remain disabled with the launch of patch 1.126 and Endless Conquest.

We did mention in the Grab Bag on June 7th 2019 that the process would not be turned on again until the next server downtime but are going to hold off on re-enabling it with this version. We will be re-enabling it at a later date and will provide plenty of notice before we do!

Developer’s Note: This may mean that some users come back to the game and still have their house up, including as an Endless Conquest (free) account, but they will still only be able to access it and its vaults as a Veteran (subscribed) account.

Any plan on expanding classes available to Endless Conquest (free) accounts?

Returning accounts that come back as an Endless Conquest account can play ALL classes/races as long as the character is level 15+, was created prior to the launch of Endless Conquest, and has 7+ days /played (which is true for quite a lot of characters!).

Otherwise, there are no plans to expand beyond the announced 5 classes and 3 races per realm allowed on Endless Conquest accounts.

I’ve read that buff potions are restricted to Endless Conquest (free) accounts. Will it be also for the swimming speed one?

Only stat-buff potions (Draught of Heroism, Supremacy, and individual stat-buff potions) are restricted from Endless Conquest (free) accounts. Items that provide single stat-buffs via /uses are not restricted while item /uses that provide multiple stat-buffs like the Pendragon’s Ring/Bracer and the Illustrious Bracer are restricted. Other potions like healing, regen, water breath, speed of the hunt, etc. are not restricted.

Are there any plans to pay for individual unlocks (like house) through the Mithril Shop?

The only way to own or access a house will be through a Veteran (subscribed) account.

Will I get the new [Returning Player] Quest rewards if I come back to the game now, before patch 1.126 and EC launch?

Current returning characters will receive the currently active Returning Player quest rewards from patch 1.22A. The new rewards will only be available post-1.126’s launch.

Illustrious weapons are now inferior to the free epic weapons (not shields). Any interest in upgrading them to be comparable?

Only the Exemplar accessories’ stats were updated (but still have no /uses). The Exemplar weapons were not updated (they are merely used for calculating the full King gear set’s stats) and their stats are still inferior to the Illustrious weapons. There are no incoming changes to Illustrious weapons.

How is cumulative subscription time tracked for Veteran Rewards?

We run a daily tally of all subscribed accounts. After an account reaches the required days-subscribed threshold to receive a Veteran Reward year, the account is made eligible. If the account is not subscribed or is active but an Endless Conquest (free) account, the daily tally will not include them.

Will accounts be able to choose one additional reward on every date that they get an additional year of active account status? (For example. Let’s say a player is a 5 year veteran (maybe 4 months off of 6) account but want’s the pendragon’s bracer. Would they have to save at least one of their choices and wait for the 4 months, or when the account updated would they be granted an additional reward (and could then chose a level 6 reward).

Yes, each time they unlock a new threshold they will receive an additional choice that they can choose spend on the newly unlocked year’s rewards or any previous year’s!

Will there ever be a feature in account management to tell you how long our account has been open/credited for? It be nice to know account has been active for 15 yrs 7 months example. /title only gives you answer to what you reached not how long till your next achievement.

Yes, this is coming shortly after the launch of Endless Conquest. Each account will display their achieved Veteran Reward year threshold! Additionally, players will be able to see which account has which characters on which server with this update!

With the increase in cost to the Speed of the Hunt gems, won’t battleground players be hurt by this change?

Battleground bounty merchants now sell speed of the hunt gems directly (at much cheaper prices).

    From the notes:

    • Battleground Bounty Merchants now sell a Lesser Speed of the Hunt (1 charge) for 10 BPs and Improved Speed of the Hunts (20 charges) for 200 bps.

So is 1.126 going live next week?

We’ll have another Pendragon version coming early next week that will address a lot of the feedback received. Assuming all goes well with that, we’ll be going live shortly thereafter!

Lots to digest there, but tons of info!
Don’t forget to check out Pendragon for the changes and send in your feedback 🙂

    Enjoy the weekend, all!
