Radar Bans

Posted by John Thornhill | 2016 Oct 12 12:28 -0400 GMT
We are happy to see that the overall number of cheaters from previous passes is much lower this time around though some players still haven't gotten the message. As such, we have issued the following permanent bans and suspensions:

  • A little over one hundred accounts were issued permanent bans for either extreme usage or repeat offenses of radar hacks.
  • Several dozen accounts were issued 7-day suspensions for low usage and first time offenses of radar hacks.

While we're still working towards completely eliminating radar and all other cheats from the game, this is another solid step towards that goal. Happy hunting out there!

Pendragon Server Downtime - Patch 1.122A

Posted by John Thornhill | 2016 Sep 23 11:17 -0400 GMT
Update: Pendragon is now up, check out the 1.122A Pendragon Test Server Notes here or by clicking the image below!

The Pendragon test server will be coming down today, September 23rd, at 2:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM GMT to deliver patch 1.122A!

Notes will follow when Pendragon is back online.

Important Note:
  • We highly suggest separating out your normal game directory from your Pendragon game directory *before* patching and testing on Pendragon.
    • If you do not do this, you *will* experience issues when patching back to live.
      • To force the live client to fix these issues, you will need to delete the mft.myp in your game's directory and run the patcher again.

For those interested in testing on Pendragon, follow the character copy process here!

Producer's Letter: 15th Anniversary Celebration

Posted by John Thornhill | 2016 Sep 14 14:03 -0400 GMT

Fifteen Years! Dark Age of Camelot has been a wonderful home, escape, playground, refuge, and of course, battlefield since day one on October 10th, 2001. We’re now less than a month away from celebrating fifteen glorious years with all of you - including many who've been with us from the start. So raise your glass, mouse, or keyboard to this venerable game we love and remember the friends you’ve made, enemies you’ve conquered, battles you’ve waged, and fun you’ve had over the years. Here’s to those fond memories and to making new ones for the next fifteen years and beyond!

Now, to celebrate this milestone, we'll have lots going on over the entire month of October. There will be a new King's RvR Tournament, a new 15-year anniversary housing trophy for all active accounts, some to-be-announced rewards for our veteran accounts, our spooky Halloween event, and we'll launch our new Herald website! We’ll also be firing up a “Come Back to Camelot” campaign (more information will be forthcoming in the next couple weeks but realm point bonuses, traveling merchants, and other events will certainly be included).

With the King’s Tournament you’ll have a chance to earn a statue of your character which will be installed in your realm’s capital city! This year there will be three new winning categories: Solo Kills, Keeps Captured, and a new “Skill Index” score based on a combination of RvR metrics (including RPs-per-kill and kills-to-deaths ratios, as well as some others). There will be nine winners in total: the top player in each category in each realm.

All active accounts will be able to receive the fifteen-year housing trophy and some other in-game goodies during the month of October. We’ll also have some contests to win our fifteen year anniversary poster as well as other rewards throughout the month! Finally, the new Herald website is nearly complete and we can't wait to share it with you all!

1.122 is also on the way! We took a hard look at your feedback and decided to shelve the previously planned housing updates for now. Instead, we’re going to be focusing on core RvR improvements and user experience/user interface updates over the next year. It was a hard decision, since a lot of hard work had already gone into the housing improvements, but it's the right decision for Camelot in the near term. But fear not, we'll return to the housing updates when the time is right.

As such, 1.122 will be split up into two versions. The first version, 1.122A, will be hitting the live servers before October and will be focused on improving our Returning Player experience with a new quest and updated King's Armor jewelry stats. Additionally, we'll be reducing the difficulty of the Darkness Falls and Otherworlds Campaign content to not require more than a single group to complete!

The second version, 1.122B, will be coming after October and will focus on several Realm vs Realm improvements that have been suggested by our player community. For example: a dynamic under-populated realm bonus system, keep capture bonuses, relic bonus improvements, and many other much-asked-for RvR changes. Finally, we’ll be addressing some remaining class balance issues from the 1.121 patch and introducing the newly revamped Necromancer class in 1.122B!

As you can see, we have some exciting events, rewards, and updates coming for the remainder of the year! We look forward to celebrating Dark Age of Camelot’s past and shaping its future with all of you!

Onward,

John Thornhill

Also thanks to Lea for streaming the event. You can watch that back on our official YouTube channel here:

Pendragon Playtest Fun: Kill Kenny!

Posted by Community | 2016 Jul 07 09:36 -0400 GMT
Kill Kenny... as in kill ME! Ever wanted to get me back for those perfectly timed screenshots of your death that I shared? Or your group wiping in that embarassing way that one time on my stream?! I do love traps :)

Well here's your chance!

On Saturday, July 9th, at 3 PM EST/8PM GMT/9PM CET I'll be holding an RvR playtest event on Pendragon's Ellan Vannin. All players are welcome, so please come along and drag your guildies/friends out for some fun. The object of this event is to get the deathblow on me! Some of you old timers might remember this event from years back :)

Here’'s how it will work:

  • Copy your favorite RvR Character to Pendragon sometime this week. For instructions on copying your character over, go here.
  • At 3PM EST/9PM CET on Saturday, July 9th, please assemble at your realm's milegate on Ellan Vannin. I'll do a "/who Ellan Vannin" for each realm.
  • Round 1: A random group will be chosen from the realm with the highest number of players. That group will be the Protectors of Carol for Round 1 (you'’ll need to invite me to your group). When the signal is given, groups from the other two realms will try to rush in for the kill. Whoever gets the killing blow on me for Round 1 will win a PENDRAGON'S BRACER for themselves and everyone in their group!
  • Round 2: Carol will join the winning group from Round 1, and the other two realms will have a chance. Whoever gets the deathblow on me for Round 2 will win a PENDRAGON'S BRACER for themselves and everyone in their group!
  • Round 3: Carol will join the winning group from Round 2, and give the final realm a chance to win a PENDRAGON'S BRACER. This round will continue until the winning group is from the remaining realm. (In other words, if Midgard wins round 1 and Hibernia wins Round 2, then Round 3 will go on until the Deathblow comes from Albion.)
  • We will also be giving away a 1 month DAoC game timecode to one lucky player from each realm!
    • Members of groups who won a Pendragon's Bracer will not be able to win a time code.
    • Groups, or individuals who were part of a winning group, cannot win a round more than once.
    • Winners of Pendragon's Bracer will get to choose 1 character on the Live servers to receive the item. Character must be level 45+.
  • Event will be streamed on our official DAoC Twitch channel.

By the end of the event only three groups will have won, one from each realm.

Will yours be the winning group? Will I pay dearly for this?! Bring your best (or worst) and see!

Pendragon Ruleset Change

Posted by John Thornhill | 2016 Jun 29 12:22 -0400 GMT
The Pendragon Test Server is being changed to the Free-for-All PvP ruleset until the next announced playtest. This is to facilitate communication and testing across realms.

Players can teleport to the strength-relic towns using the normal NPC channelers where they will find Testermatic and Buff NPCs.

Pendragon RvR Playtest

Posted by Community | 2016 Jun 27 11:53 -0400 GMT
On Tuesday, June 28th, at 8PM EST/1AM GMT BG Leaders Luvly and Smeger will be running a playtest on Pendragon to see what the upcoming Patch 1.121 brings for zerg and group fights as the realms go head to head!

Everyone is welcome to take part, the more the merrier,  so bring your characters out and kill, kill, kill!!

To get involved: create a new character on Pendragon, or copy your existing characters from Ywain. Instructions on how to copy your characters can be found here, and it's best you do it ahead of time so you're all set up and ready to go for Tuesday night! Tester NPC's can be found in the capital cities for each realm.

As always, we'll be there to osberve, chat, and help :)

We are very grateful for the assistance of the community, and we look forward to seeing you on Pendragon tomorrow night!
