Grab Bag - November 16, 2007

Player Questions & Developer Answers

Here it is: This week's Grab Bag. Kick it! I mean, click it!

Q. I have a question about Heretic spell piercing buff. Does it stack with the 10 % passive spell piercing from artifacts like Atlantis Tablet 5 % piercing and Jacinas sash?

A. Spell piercing is a hot topic lately. I went to the Balancinator who offered this reply: No, it will not let you exceed 10% spell piercing. It may not take you over 10% spell piercing, but it does open up alternative templating options. If you were to spec high in Enhancements and utilize the piercing buff spell, it would allow you to template out of one or both of the items, granting you more freedom while templating. The options are endless! Well, sort of.

Q. I notice that there is an Alchemy table in Grimspound, but I can't find a Spellcrafting or Alchemy merchant nearby. Is there one, if so where? If not can we have one please? The table isn't much use without one.

A. There aren't any alchemy merchants nearby because that area was not really meant to be a full-fledged crafting area. It was put in more for decoration and ambiance. You'd do much better if you go to your capital city and craft there. When crafting in Jordheim, Tir na Nog, and Camelot City, players receive a 10% bonus to crafting speed and a 5% bonus to skill gain chance for all tradeskills.

Q. Here's my question. What effect does Master of Concentration have on buff shears? I know for other spells it reduces their duration, damage, and/or the healing, but buff shearing doesn't have any of that.

A. The realm ability 'Mastery of Concentration' does not affect buff shears. It, also, does not affect the value of the buffs if you were to rebuff while using the realm ability.

Q. If my account was terminated, can I start a new account?

A. Yes.

Q. I was recently on a raid to kill Golestandt, and no loot dropped, just coin! What are we supposed to do in this situation in order to get the loot that we earned?

A. First of all let me say that we completely understand how frustrating this issue is and we're investigating the bug, in the meantime, CS is doing its best to help those who encounter it. Here's what you should do if you encounter this situation:

If you defeat a dragon and no loot drops, partial loot drops or the loot can not be reached, the Raid Leader should appeal immediately. No other member of the raid should also appeal, as that will just slow down the initial contact of the Raid Leader. The appeal should be classified as an Emergency. The text of the appeal should identify the following information:

You're the Raid Leader
Name of the Dragon
Server Name
Time of the Kill
Type of Drop issue: No Loot, Partial Loot (if partial, what is missing), Loot Unreachable

Ex:

I am the Raid Leader for a Golestandt raid. We killed the dragon at 8:15pm and no loot dropped at all. The kill took place on Galahad. Please help!

We do not guarantee the restore of any items, characters or coin in the game, but we will make every effort to assist you to the best of our ability.

Be prepared to answer questions about your encounter. This will serve the purposes of giving the CSR information on what took place, and will allow us to form a Bug Report we can pass along to QA on your behalf. This would include, but is not limited to:

How many players were present
Positioning of your raid members during the encounter
Who was alive/dead when the dragon died
Types of offensive spells/abilities/RAs/pets/etc. used
Types of defensive/spells/abilities/RAs/etc. used
Death Spam
The /loc of where the dragon died
How long the dragon was engaged in combat

We decided to offer some bonuses for the weekend to thank you for your patience with the ups and downs of the process.

Next week the Grab Bag will be too stuffed full of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes - mmmm what was I saying? Oh, there won't be a Grab Bag next week, I'm taking the week off. Joanne will be about to inform you of any news that crops up before Thanksgiving Day.
