Player Questions & Developer Answers

A bit on the early side today, but I figured what the hey?

Q. Hello, you guys mentioned that you fixed the Fine Steel Longsword dye problem for 1.90. I sent in about Cuuldarach's Fang also, and have yet to see a note on it. Are you guys working on it, or did it just miss the patch notes?

A. Our Lady of the Jewels tells me that this has been fixed internally and should go up to testing soon, and live with 1.90. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Q. The porting system is so extensive in the game now, that I find it odd you don't have a port to Innis, or any town near the epic zones. Why not?

A. Actually, we do! Porters around the realm will take you to the Epic zones for the dragon campaign if you have the correct faction. There is a porter located in the Epic zone to take players back as well. To find out how to get the proper faction, check out our handy Camelot Campaign Guide.

Q. I've killed Myrddraxis (Fomor Hydra) and got no remains nor have read ANYWHERE that he drops them. However, I still keep hearing that he drops them. So my question is does he actually drop remains and if so is it a random drop?

A. From the Bearded Wonder: There are no remains for Myrddraxis. Urban Legend. Seriously, Taxidermists have to draw the line somewhere, 1 head... okay. 5 heads? Sorry, no dice.

Q. Can/will you please officially state whether or not one is able to see an enemy player's torch if they have it on in an RvR area? Some people try to claim that two years ago there were patch notes saying that you are not supposed to be able to see enemy realm torches, but I know for a fact that you can since I see them all the time making people glow like a beacon, especially at night.

A. From the Keeper of the Devs: If a player has their torch on their face will be lit up to other players, regardless of realm. I must admit I can be found being yelled at by my group mates many a night. - Turn off your torch! - Gah - I hate running around in the dark.

Q. After seeing the new keeps and towers I have one question. Are the new "roofing/palisades" on top of them gonna affect the climb walls ability in any way?

A. For reference, or if you're fond of DAOC developer trivia, we call the pretty things on top of the top-tier keeps 'caketoppers'. These cake-toppers should not affect the climb points or the climb wall ability in any way. If you are testing out the new keeps and notice that it does for some reason, please send us a bug report with your location and all relevant information. Thanks again, Bearded Wonder. You truly are a wonder. With a beard.

Q. My OCD drives me to "collect them all" so I was wondering if you could provide a list of all the pets available from the Trifecta game?

A. From the Content Prince:

Any Realm

Q. Where is the Champion's power pool derived from?

A. The Redhead: Intelligence.

Q. I was recently trying to place some new trophies in my house and received the message "You can't place any more decorations in your house". Is this a bug or is there a limit to the number of trophies, decorations, etc, you can display?

A. This isn't a bug. There is a limit on the number of decorations you can put on your house, much like the limit of items in a vault or in your inventory. You're allowed 30 items outside, and 50 inside.

Q. I've been testing on Pendragon and then I noticed that when I patched to my live server, I had to download a patch all over again! How can I avoid waiting through a patch every time I want to switch between Pendragon and live?

A. In order to avoid patching and un-patching, you can create a separate directory to run Pendragon from. The Tech Dude explains how:

Create a new folder in your Mythic (or Electronic Arts) folder (the one your game folder is located in) called "Pendragon." Then just copy and paste everything from your game folder into the new folder. Then you can make a shortcut from camtest.exe to your desktop or start menu. He warns that doing this will double the size of your game install, since you'll have everything twice, so only do this if you intend to play on Pendragon regularly, and if you have enough space on your hard drive.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

If you're reading this after Saturday at 7 Pacific Time, then you're missing the Seattle Round Table. If you're reading this before then and you live in the area, you should go! Joanne and two devs will be there. This is her first Round Table being on the 'dev' side of things, so be sure to make her feel welcome!

Tintagel Day: Sinnocent and Daamien, our Role Playing and PvP Server Team Leads, are hosting a Play on Tintagel Day on September 9. There's no need to speak Shakespearean or wear funny hats to participate. Click here for more info.

The devs are in the final test-and-polish stages of 1.90, which is slated to go live in the beginning of September. If you haven't seen the new keeps or tried out the new siege yet, get to Pendragon and check them out!

I know it's been awhile, and I'm sorry. This was a project I started before the bun came out of the oven, and I failed to pass it on to those who were taking over for me while I was gone. Without further delay, the Archery info is up! You can now browse Archery Shots as well as Archery Buffs. Enjoy!

I'm off to pack up my desk; we're in the middle of inter-office moves. Never before has a cardboard box been such a valuable commodity within the walls of EA Mythic. Picture a giant game of musical chairs, only with many, many cubicles and several different office floors. Whee!

Have a great weekend, all, and be safe.
